Seagate Hard Disk Warranty

Does anybody here have any idea about the duration of the warranty that Seagate gives along with its Hard Disk. I have a ST380011. I haven't been able to find anything specific for India. Anybody willing to throw some light?

Dont know much...but it should be around 1 yr. Mine is seagate's ST340015A. And it came with one year warranty. Whats the problem on your hard disk?

It showed signs of crashing and then one day finally crashed. Plus there seemed to be problems with the Boot Sectors. Well that was before it crashed whereby it refused to Boot when a CD Drive was connected to it.

And now I am stuck with a sick old PC with barely 128MBs of RAM. Should shift to a Laptop pretty soon however!

Same thing happened with me. I replaced the hard disk with a new one.Nowadays they are pretty cheap. You should get a Seagate 80gb 7200rpm HD somewhere around 1500 Rs

What? Technology moves fast real fast! I got this piece of crap about 2 years back with 5400 RPM and a cost of near about 2700 Rs. But I am in no mood to spend anything on another HD as I will be buying a laptop pretty soon, immediately after which I will be phasing out this PC out of my life for good!

Eh sorry...that was the cost of 40gb HD...80gb@7200rpm costs around 1900-2000 Rs...slower ones (5200rpm) are around 1700-1800 Rs.

I have my eyes on a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo with a 160 GB SATA HD with of course 1 GB RAM. What say?

Oh man...dream machine!!! Even I was thinking of this...But that would require Heavy upgradation on my machine,as my motherboard does not support Core 2 Duo!

What are your Specs? And why wouldn't it support it? I know my present one won't. After all it is a poor P3 processor which believed it had retired peacefully until I called it back following my regular PC crashing!

My specs....Actually my computer's:

P4 2.4 ghz
512 mb ram
Asus 845g/gl series Motherboard
Onboard graphics and Audio

Thats the important stuff.I asked my "Computer wala" and he said that it does not support core 2 duo. But i never searched it on internet.
