Well there are many good laptops in town at reasonable price for students. I dont think soo spending 1lakh for just a laptop is insane. Im too in search of laptop. I have seen varieties of laptops and found HP pavilion notebooks are worthy.

Where are you from? No I am not getting that particular laptop. Mine will cost around 1300 USD. Besides what are your preferences(i.e companies, specs etc.)?

Just split this topic to provide a thread for healthy laptop discussions. So where do you intend to buy it? Would have definitely got better prices from Doha than from anywhere in and around Manipal!

But still why are you looking for one? You have one that I know off with Vista Business loaded. As for the XP boot issue I have the solution for you. Would you like me to post the instructions to throw away Vista and load XP on your system?

Mr Imran finally you came to know me! And I would like to know how you spotted the not!
Anyways
My dad is planning to buy a notebook and i have seen some of them for him on my last visit to Qatar.
I liked Hp pavilion dv6700t, the spec is good and price is quite resonable.

Well I knew who you were from Day 1. Just didn't want to embarrass myself by going for the kill only to find out that my guess is wrong. In the end your IP gave you away.

The dv6000 series is good. The screen size for me was a bit too big(15", I like 14"). Other than that Pavilion notebooks rock. They really are pretty good. Could give the dv2000 series a try as well or maybe even the tx1000 series. All in all there is no doubt that the Pavilion is the laptop that you should be looking at buying!

It's Compaq presario 739,with 160 GB HDD, with 1 GB of RAM, dual core processor with 1.66 GHz of frequency andddd what else....

I think the two most important features are the RAm and the mentioned and the rest of the features are common to all of the rest series.

and tell me how my GADGET was?
Is note book a gadget...
