Agreed
If you ask for more you are drifting into some kind of dream land!
Now that's where my differences really start to flow in. All features that you have suggested will only escalate the costs. Then it no more will be the 'nano' priced car. Besides not even a Maruti has any of these features but is still stupidly priced at about 2.3 Lakhs +.
I think you still haven't imagined what would happen to the 5 people sitting on a scooter if they collide head on with anything. Think about it and believe me the answer would be you definitely can't bargain for anything more than this for a price tag of just 1 Lakh. It is the ultimate car that the world has ever seen(plus this statement will hold true even in the future, in short forever)!

Though Nano is smart and cute in looks moreover cheap, is the safety of the car left in darkness?

TATA NANO IS DEFINITELY SAFER THAN THAT !!!
And as far as technicalities are concerned...
With an all sheet-metal body, it has a strong passenger compartment, with safety features such as crumple zones, intrusion-resistant doors, seat belts, strong seats and anchorages, and the rear tailgate glass bonded to the body. Tubeless tyres further enhance safety.

I agree Mr Mohsin, Nano is way better than 5 members of a family riding on a scooter. I too like nano in terms of looks and cost but my main concern is safety which should be given more priority not ony for nano but all cars running on Indian roads. Safety features like ABS,SRS Airbags should be mandatory.

I agree that a car is a lot safer than a bike in a place like Delhi, I happened to visit Delhi a few days back concerning a lap top(Is our talk roaming around lap tops and cars ;)).
I had to roam around the Delhi roads on my brother's bike. it was coooollll very cooooooooll.. Bike at around 100 kmph has its own pleasure, a car can never give U that FEEL. The turns, the winds.. the stance... everything was just too much a wrooooooooommmm..
I am actually making a point by saying all that.
Its not always that we look for safety !! So why should we stress too much on it in case NANO.
Black viper ! u seem to be a moto freak, dont U like speeding...ggg...gggggg....gggggggggggggggggggg.......ggggggggg

I dont have much experience riding a bike. I rode only in city and never on highway.
Well I like cars more than bikes! Its fun to drive a SUV than a smaller car(this is my personal experience). I have a Honda CRV and had a very thrilling experience driving it especially off road. Driving at short gears with full acceleration and the sound of engine is just ROCKING!!

Nano vs. Two wheelers

Of course the Nano isnt going to be the same fun as an SUV. Its basically a toaster on donuts that gets you from point A to B, and given the cost, I'd say it does a good job at it.
The benefits over a two wheeler are obvious, weather proofing and additional capacity, and at half the price of the competition and about double that of a decent two wheeler, it will open a new market segment.
