Indian Idol:History repeats

It has happened before and it happened yet again tonight, when the very much-awaited verdict of the Indian Idol contest was finally unveiled. This was the third season of the show and just like the two previous attempts, this year too failed to give India its competent Idol! Prashant Tamang emerged to be the winner who, quite surprisingly, outdid the much more deserving Amit Paul. Indian Idol, or should i say the Indian public, has maintained its tradition of picking the wrong choice. Whether it be Abhijeet Sawant or Sandeep Acharya, both former Idols, or the newly crowned Tamang, all have hypnotized the viewers with their innocent looks.

The question to be asked now is the criteria of judging these contestants. It surely isn't their singing talent, their voice quality or their versatility! Then what is it that the viewers see that they always oust the better, the more deserving participant. I surely fail to understand! Anyone has an answer??

That's how we,the Indian public,are!!We always fail to make the right choice when it matters.And leave alone the judgement of who sings well....for that matter there are at least 5 singers on SaReGaMa who sing better than all those on Indian Idol.This Indian Idol is no good at discovering talents.....they are best suited for people who sing ok-ok and are presentable enough to appear on-screen.No doubt the previous winners hardly have any assignments and end up doing only music videos!!
