The patriarch .... the TATAs !!

Post Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 8:03 pm

Be it acquisition, venturing into risky vistas, getting out of a particular line of business, or fighting corruption, Tatas have come out with flying colours.
The man responsible for manufacturing India's first completely indigenous small car — Indica — is now set to produce the world's cheapest car — pegged at Rs 1 lakh or nearly $2,500 — despite doubts expressed by several of his peers.

He is also the frontrunner in the race to acquire the iconic Jaguar and Land Rover. The outcome of this acquisition bid is yet to be seen. At a time when many global auto majors are facing rough weather in developed markets and looking towards emerging economies such as India, Tata is looking at one of the most saturated markets — the United Kingdom.

The group is not only looking at acquisition for the sake of corporate expansionism, but on pure economic sense. A case in point is when he decided to divest Tata Tea's 30 per cent holding in the US's Energy Brand Inc.– Glaceau and made a clean profit of $500 million in less than a year.

Tatas have definitely bagged it. Jaguar is now ours. Not to forrget the Land Rover Brand as well. Jaguar since its inception has been continuously bought and sold. But it can be assured that now it is in safe hands and it is not going anywhere.

Nano is yet another discovery. A great one at that. It is the world's cheapest car and there is information coming from UK that people even there want it! Indian Dominance is what I infer from this.

But let me assert another fact and an important one at that. I believe that TATAs are true Indians at heart. I don't think Indira Nooyi or L.N.Mittal for that matter are Indians in any sense. To hell with these people who have openly expressed that they are no more Indians!

Let's take an oath of nominating and awarding the Bharat Ratna to Ratan Tata, the greatest entrepreneur of our time. Smile

Its all great news for Tata here, but lets not forget that they are a for profit corporation. When it comes to extracting a profit out of the consumers, they wont be giving any charitable breaks to Indian consumers, so as much as we can rejoice that an Indian company is competing with the biggest in the world, lets not forget their ultimate goals and ambitions are the same.
