"Dilli me Jhamajham..."

"Dilli mein Jhamajham.." caught my eyes as I was surfing on TV channels. It was NDTV, the best news channel according to me. So, congrats to all the Delhites for their first heavy-downpour after a long wait. The last time a good rain was seen when I was there, on June 30, I guess. Here at my place, in Kanpur, it rained pretty well, wasnt a JHAMAJHAM though
When I went to Mumbai, it was the first week of july, from then it has been raining very 'badly' there. Mumbai is drowning and the North is thirsty. This shows nothing but the enormousnes of our nation. May we see some more rain in the coming days, and the north doesnt face any drought this year.
By the way, how many of us have got completely drenched by the maniac rain in their youth?? I have not. I remember my school days. I happened to come back and it would rain, almost everyday, but that didnt make me wait for it to stop. I would travel all the way from school to home, soaked. I can still feel it.. My all clothes, sticking to my body. The water flowing from my forehead, converging to my nose and then snaking through it making a water fall at the tip of the nose. Just cant forget it. After that i dont remember any nahai-nahai in the rain

So,delhi's finally getting wet!!Yaar, the situation is sort of ajeeb over here at kolkata.....tell you what,it has been raining almost continuously for about 2 days now!!And it was not sookha before that, bas barsaat thodi halki thi!
It takes me about 10-15 minutes to reach the academic block from hostels and umbrellas are a necessity(Feel odd carrying them after the tradition at Aaligarh!
)
Kal bhool gaya,it started raining halfway through(the type you nahai-nahai in!) and I reached the classes all wet...Phir attended 1.5 hours of a class wet in an air-conditioned room!Yaar,I feel cold even remembering it!
And tell me buddy, why can't the rain-Gods do away with thunder??...yaar,padhai nahi ho pa rahi aise mausam mein.....

Carrying the umbrella man.. It feels really awkward. I had to carry an umbrella and I felt deeply embarrassed. When I was in Pune two weeks ago, I made my way from Pune to Mumbai in the Volvo service. Though I was carrying an umbrella, when I boarded the bus, lower part of my legs and my shoes were completely wet. And half of the journey, I just kept shivering. Then I took my shoes off and my neighbours fainted!! Just kidding.. Only when i took off my wet socks, i felt a bit relieved.
Am I hearing someone saying "How can U take off ur socks in a bus??". So, Mrs Sarabhai U too would have done that, I was in a 'life saving' mode
and agar Allah taala bijli ki awaz nahi karenge toh ghar ke andar baithe logo ko pata kaise chalega ki bahar baarish ho rahi hai!! Its a pure 'multimedia' experience man, enjoy

I love Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai. It is one of the few serials which I liked
I was in Pune regarding barc, as I told U, I guess.
I just watched Little Krishna on Nick and am running short of words. It was amazing, for the first time, I think, an Indian character is so well animated, no less than the American counterparts!
I am going off-topic
I think I will be starting a new thread about the cartoons. I am mad about some and just cant stop myself extolling for the creativity of the creative creators!!

Well well.. I had visited this thread long back but had nothing to contribute to it as i am not at all an outdoor person and so, had not experienced such a thing. But just two days ago, i got to witness something that can't be expressed in words.
I have never seen rains of such force, of such wildness! The winds were blowing hard, in tandem with the intense rains. I was in the car, with my family. The car wipers were trying hard to slash away the rain from the windshield but to no avail! It was like a bad dream! There were people out there on bicycles, rickshaws and motorbikes who could do nothing but enjoy the situation they were in, all soaked up in water with winds blowing them away! The vehicles were hardly moving. We were among the fortunate ones as we were quite close to our destination when the 'nightmare' began. I wonder how everyone else managed. It was absolutely terrifying. A few people would have taken it as an adventure. But the way i am, i was just praying to reach safely and quickly.
A true example of 'Jhamajham', i would say!
